Cobra

COBRA is a federal law which requires that employers (who employ 20 or more employees on at least 50% of the working days during the preceding calendar year) provide employees the option of continuing their existing health, dental and/or vision coverage under circumstances of termination of employment; reduction of hours below the minimum required for eligibility; death of the employee; divorce/legal separation; loss of dependent status under terms of the insurance contract; Medicare entitlement; military reservist reactivation; or Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings - with premiums being paid by the employee. Some states also have enacted their own COBRA laws.

COBRA Plan Administrators at Associates In Excellence are knowledgeable in establishing new plans, as well as experienced in reworking procedures for better efficiency in taking over in the administration of existing plans. Through careful and qualified administration, Plan Administrators ensure the plan's continued compliance with COBRA requirements. Step-by-step instructions are provided to Employer for minimal company tasks related to COBRA plan maintenance. Premium payments are collected and timely processed by Associates In Excellence, with related monthly reports being generated and provided to Employer.

Employers who currently maintain and administer their own COBRA plan may want to consider independent third-party plan audit services offered by Associates In Excellence, in proving their "good faith compliance" with COBRA regulations.
